The simple purpose of Manhattan Private Health Advantage is to deliver medical care excellence by re-establishing the primacy of the doctor-patient relationship. To accomplish this, we have withdrawn from all health insurance plans, strictly limited the number of patients in our practice, and charged each MPHA participant an annual fee.

 

By doing so, we have liberated MPHA from the managed care emphasis on high patient rosters, voluminous documentation and elaborate pre-authorization and approval requirements, allowing doctor and patient the luxury of as much unpressured time together as they may need.  This allows us to be more accessible and responsive to patients’ needs, to make diagnostic and treatment decisions that represent the best medical practice, and to cultivate the communication and understanding this is key to an effective doctor-patient relationship.

 

MPHA offers patients two membership alternatives: the Comprehensive Services Option and the Primary Services Option, which address the different needs of our patients.  Under either alternative, non-Medicare patients can submit claims to their health insurers, which may or may not make partial or full reimbursement for MPHA services under their out-of-network benefit provisions, as applicable. Medicare patients are not able to submit reimbursement claims for any MPHA services. Medicare reimbursement may be available for services ordered by MPHA physicians but performed elsewhere, including laboratory tests, X-rays, MRI’s, sonograms, hospitalization, or other physician’s services.

 

Comprehensive Services Option (“CSO”)
This membership plan provides patients with a higher level of predictability to annual health care costs. It includes a full annual physical as well as all office visits, electro-cardiogram and pulmonary function testing, and basic immunizations (i.e., influenza, Pneumovax, and tetanus boosters).  CSO patients receive direct access phone numbers and email address for their physician, and same-day or next day appointments.   

Primary Services Option (“PSO”)
The PSO membership plan allows patients to make their health care expenditures as they incur them. Each office visit and related services are charged at the physician’s usual and customary rates. PSO members have unlimited email access to their physician, fast telephone response times, and guaranteed short or no wait appointments.
